SJE Schools Foundation
The St. John-Endicott Schools' Foundation is a locally operated and supported, non-profit, tax-exempt scholarship foundation,operated by community volunteers. The Foundation raises scholarship money to assist current and past graduates of St. John-Endicott High School to reach for and achieve their educational goals.
The idea of a local scholarship foundation started with a small group of community people more than ten years ago. The idea began with a simple concept of looking for ways to support graduates achieve their educational dreams. We are proud to say this remains our focus today. To get things started, this group needed some assistance. The group looked to an organization called Dollars for Scholars to get the help they needed.

Dollars for Scholars
Membership in Dollars for Scholars provides our communities access to a broad range of resources and services available through a professional staff and a national network of more than 850 community-based scholarship organizations.
Affiliation with Dollars for Scholars also helps to maximize and leverage our local scholarships. A growing number of post-secondary institutions have formally become Collegiate Partners and have agreed not to reduce their grant aid when scholarships awarded through Dollars for Scholars chapters come to their campuses. Many of these institutions are also willing to match the scholarships we administer locally.
Dollars for Scholars provide the help needed to create our local endowments and processes that help us give in excess of $20,000 in scholarships per year to our graduates.
Endowment Facts
An endowed scholarship program is a tax-deductible contribution to the St. John-Endicott Schools' Foundation for the purpose of using the earnings from the principal of the contribution for distribution as scholarship awards. The St. John-Endicott Schools' Foundation may be named as a beneficiary in wills and insurance policies or receive gifts of property.
Endowments are controlled by the Board of Trustees made up of long-time residents of both Endicott and St. John communities. This board oversees all endowed scholarship funds, which are invested in conservative interest-bearing savings, bonds or they are managed by our partner foundation, Inland Northwest Community Foundation.
Inland Northwest Community Foundation Partnership
Inland Northwest Community Foundation helps nonprofit organizations like ours throughout the Inland Northwest to establish endowments, so they might better meet the current and long-term funding needs.
Inland Northwest Community Foundation has more than 32 years of experience and is the largest philanthropic entity in the Inland Northwest. With more than $57 million in assets, it manages more than 220 funds for donors and nonprofit organizations. Since 1976, the Community Foundation has given over $29 million in grants and scholarships in the region to help create vibrant communities.
Inland Northwest Community Foundation uses eight professional investment firms to manage its Consolidated Investment Fund. R.V. Kuhns & Associates of Portland, Oregon provide an independent quarterly analysis of their portfolio.
Who can apply for scholarships
The Foundation believes any sincere and determined person should have the opportunity to continue his or her education after graduation. Scholarships can be for two-year, four-year or vocational and technical colleges. Our focus is to seek out both current and past graduates of St. John-Endicott High School who are in need of financial support in order to pursue their educational objectives. Application packets must be returned no later than April 15th.

How are scholarships awarded?
By completing a common application form, students become eligible for numerous scholarships. Applications are scored by volunteers serving on the Awards Committee. Applicants receive points for a variety of qualities, including work experience, school and community activities and academic record. In this way, the selection process is objective and nondiscriminatory, making scholarships available to a wide range of deserving students planning to attend an accredited post-secondary institution.
How can I help?
You can make a contribution either during our annual fund raising event or as a memorial. You can also create an endowment to honor a loved one, or as part of you own estate planning. We encourage you to give as generously as you can, but be assured that any and all gifts are appreciated. Your contribution of $10, $100 or $1,000 reflects your pride in our students and your commitment to the ongoing education of the young people of our communities.
Another way to help is to share your time and energy to the Foundation. We invite your help with any of our fund-raising events throughout the year. Together, through the St. John-Endicott Schools' Foundation, we have an opportunity to invest in our greatest resource, our communities' youth. Together we really can make a difference.
Friends of the Foundation is a vehicle by which businesses, families and individuals can support the administration of the Foundation.
You can become a sustaining member of the Friends of the Foundation. Your name will be placed on an attractive plaque in the St. John high school gym. There is a one time set up fee and an annual participation charge. You will also be listed in our Annual Report as a Friend of the Foundation.
If you would like to have your name on a plaque, you need to complete a plaque form.
